Fernando Famoso: Transforming Junior Tennis

In this interview, Fernando Famoso shares his inspiring journey, offers valuable insights into the Tennis Training World Tour (TTWT), and provides expert advice for aspiring players and coaches.

Mark Wylam: Fernando, thank you for joining us today. To kick things off, could you share a bit about your background in tennis and how you got started?

Fernando Famoso: Absolutely, Mark. I’m from Argentina and started playing tennis at the age of four—I’m now 48. My journey began with national and international competitions, and while I loved competing, coaching eventually became my passion. I’ve been a coach for 22 years now, and in the past decade, I’ve focused on junior player development. My specialty is helping players transition from the junior level into professionalism, which I find incredibly rewarding.

MW: That’s incredible! And in addition to your coaching journey, you were also a speaker at the first SPC Online Conference in October. Could you tell us a bit about your presentation?

FF: Sure. My presentation was titled “From Junior to Pro: The Journey Matters.” It focused on the Tennis Training World Tour (TTWT), which is a global initiative I’ve developed. The TTWT helps players train, travel, and compete while receiving the support they need to grow both on and off the court. Our Players Support Program provides services like high-performance training, tournament planning, travel assistance, accommodation, and more. It’s all about helping players navigate the challenges of pursuing a professional tennis career.

MW: That sounds amazing! Speaking of the TTWT, it’s launching soon! Could you share more details?

FF: Of course! The tour officially launches in January 2025 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After that, we’ll be expanding to cities like London, Barcelona, and many more. Each location will offer tailored opportunities for players to train and compete in world-class environments while enjoying holistic support.

MW: That’s exciting! As you look to expand the reach of TTWT, we’re thrilled that SportsProsConnect is partnering with you to help find venues and players for the tour. How do you envision this partnership growing in the long term?

FF: I’m thrilled about this partnership. The TTWT aligns perfectly with the values of SportsProsConnect. Being part of this community has been an amazing experience for me, and I’m convinced that sharing values and a common mission is key to success. Together, we can help more players achieve their goals and grow the sport globally.

MW: Through the TTWT, you’ve also created the Players Support Program and the Players Club Membership. In addition, could you tell us more about how these programs help junior players worldwide?

FF: Absolutely. The Players Support Program is designed to assist players in every area they might need help with, particularly in areas such as:

  • Finding hitting and travel partners
  • Accessing tennis clubs, academies, and experienced coaches
  • Planning tournaments and receiving on-the-ground assistance
  • Arranging accommodation and hospitality
  • Securing equipment
  • Managing finances and seeking sponsorships

The Players Club Membership takes this a step further by offering exclusive benefits. Specifically, members get discounts on camps, training weeks, and courses. We also provide consulting for U.S. college scholarships and other unique opportunities within our community. Most importantly, we listen to the players, study each case, and customise our support to meet their specific needs.

MW: That’s fantastic! Now, let’s wrap up with some fun rapid-fire questions.
