About Me
I was born in Switzerland in 1984 and moved to Spain at the age of 10, where I began focusing seriously on tennis. I competed at the national junior level in Spain, finishing 2nd in the U18 Winter Masters, and later reached a senior ranking of 181 nationwide (category 2B). I also played qualifiers for Satellites in Spain and Portugal and briefly competed in Spanish padel at a high level.
From an early age I combined playing with coaching, starting as a junior coach at 16 and then working full-time from 2004, including years as a travelling coach for juniors such as Eric Scherer (former ATP 550).
I eventually settled at Tennis Club Puente Romano in Marbella, coaching members and hotel guests, which remains my preferred environment. Later I founded Taurus Tennis Academy in Prague, before returning to Spain and then moving to Sweden in 2020. Today I am Head Coach for the competition group at SALK, Sweden’s largest tennis club.
Outside of coaching I enjoy being active on court myself. I’ve continued to compete, most recently on the ITF Seniors Tour, reaching the finals in mixed doubles at the 2022 European Championships. My philosophy is that tennis should be fun and keep you young, and I love to teach through playing actively with my students. I also run Tennisamigos.se, a platform helping newcomers in Stockholm find tennis partners and sparring.
Alongside tennis and padel, my hobbies include fitness, outdoor activities, and travel. I am fluent in several languages and enjoy working in international environments.
I am writing to express my interest in a coaching or leadership position within your tennis program. With more than 20 years of international experience as both a coach and player, I bring a proven record of developing players, managing coaching teams, and delivering high-level guest experiences in some of Europe’s most prestigious tennis environments.
Currently, I serve as Head Coach of the Competition Group at SALK in Stockholm, Sweden’s largest tennis club, where I lead a team of eight coaches and oversee the development of approximately 75 competitive juniors. My role combines training management, performance planning, and close collaboration with parents and players, ensuring a professional and inspiring environment for long-term growth.
Previously, I worked at the renowned Puente Romano Tennis Club in Marbella, where I coached both members and hotel guests, and built a reputation for energetic, high-quality on-court presence. I also founded and directed Taurus Tennis Academy in Prague, working extensively with international clients and corporate workshops, which sharpened my ability to create welcoming programs for diverse audiences.
Fluent in German, Spanish, English, Czech, and Swedish, I thrive in multicultural settings and can easily adapt communication to guests and players from around the world. Alongside my coaching, I remain an active competitor, most recently reaching the finals in mixed doubles at the ITF Seniors European Championships.
I am particularly interested in continuing my career either in a leading tennis organization in Germany or Austria, or in a luxury resort setting outside Europe, where I can combine my coaching expertise with my passion for guest experience, leadership, and international hospitality.
I would welcome the opportunity to bring my skills, energy, and international perspective to your program. Thank you for considering my application—I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can contribute to your team.
Best regards,
Alexander Rubeska
