Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a self-employed tennis coach across three different clubs within the UK, delivering high-quality coaching to a wide range of players. My experience includes providing one-to-one coaching for individuals at all levels, from beginners to advanced players, as well as leading group sessions for both adults and children.
I am responsible for planning and delivering structured, engaging lessons, ensuring all sessions are well-organised and appropriately resourced to meet the needs of participants. In addition to coaching, I regularly organise and run tennis tournaments, helping to create competitive opportunities and foster a strong club environment.
I have also planned and delivered successful holiday programmes, including summer and Easter camps for children, focusing on skill development, participation, and enjoyment in a safe and inclusive setting.
Early in my career, I spent several summers in Italy coaching tennis to EAL learners from international schools attending residential summer camps. This experience strengthened my communication skills and adaptability, as I worked with players from a wide range of cultural and language backgrounds, ensuring sessions were inclusive, engaging, and accessible to all.

About Me
I am a highly experienced and dedicated tennis coach with over 25 years of professional coaching across a wide range of environments, including schools and club settings. I have worked with players of all ages and abilities, from young beginners to adult learners and highly competitive athletes.
My passion for coaching is supported by my own playing background, having started tennis at the age of 11, progressing to county squad level by 13, and representing the county by 15. I competed extensively across England, achieving success in numerous tournaments and reaching the equivalent of a WTN 9.5 rating. I am committed to creating positive, inclusive, and engaging environments where all players can develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
Outside of coaching, I enjoy maintaining an active lifestyle, regularly going to the gym and playing golf. I recently relocated to Bangkok with my wife, who is a teacher, and our two sons. This move has given me valuable international perspective and adaptability, both personally and professionally. I am committed to creating positive, inclusive, and engaging environments where all players can develop their skills, confidence, and enjoyment of the game.
Experience
Over the course of my career, I have gained extensive experience coaching in both school and club settings, working with a diverse range of players. I have supported the development of beginners, recreational players, and performance-level athletes, including coaching a boys’ county squad. This experience has given me valuable insight into player development pathways and the demands of competitive tennis. My coaching approach is adaptable and player-focused, driven by a passion for helping individuals reach their full potential.
Testimonial
Andy has been teaching our daughter for over five years. She absolutely loves her lessons with Andy, who is a great teacher. He combines coaching with fun to get the best out of her - she always leaves with a smile on her face. Andy is extremely reliable; committed to his job; and will be greatly missed by our local tennis community.

Andy has coached my two kids, now ages 9 and 10, for about two years on a 1:1 basis. They have also attended his group sessions at the weekend. I really cannot recommend Andy highly enough. Not only are they both turning into great little tennis players with technically good shots thanks to Andy, but they also both love the sport. Tennis is a great sport, but the love and enthusiasm they have, I attribute to Andy. Rain or shine, they are desperate to get out there and play. I have also had some coaching with Andy and can attest that he is just as good with adults!

I have had the pleasure of knowing Andy for several years, both as someone who has been coached by him and now together through our work at the tennis club and I can honestly say he is one of the most well-like and respected coaches you could hope to work with. Andy has a natural ability to connect with people of all ages. Whether working with young children picking up a racket for the first time or working with more experiences players, he brings patience, encouragement and a genuine enthusiasm that makes everyone feel at ease. His easy going nature and great sense of humour create a positive, welcoming environment on and off the court. We have worked closely together organising tournaments and Andy has always been reliable, organised and committed to making every event enjoyable and successful. He is a true team player who brings energy and professionalism to everything he does.
