About Me
I’ve spent the last 18 years doing the thing I love most in the world — coaching tennis. What started as a junior coaching role in Surrey turned into a career that’s taken me from a tennis ranch in California to academies in Barcelona and France, working with players ranging from absolute beginners through to those competing at county, national and international level.
I’m currently coaching at Ewell Castle Tennis Academy, the number one ranked tennis programme in the country, where I support junior athletes through their technical and athletic development. Before that I spent 18 months in California as Joint Director of Tennis with Cliff Drysdale Tennis, where I ran a full club programme and had the privilege of coaching the number one ranked junior player in North California.
For me, coaching has never just been about technique. It’s about understanding what makes each player tick, building genuine relationships, and creating an environment where people want to keep showing up and improving. A few years ago I co-founded my own junior tennis academy from scratch, growing it to over 70 children training weekly — an experience that taught me as much about building something meaningful as it did about coaching itself.
I also founded Ben Cullen Athletics, a speed and agility programme for young athletes, because I believe the best players are built on more than just strokes — confidence, athleticism and a genuine love of competing matter just as much.
When I’m not on court, I’m usually thinking about how to make the next session better than the last one. I genuinely believe coaching is a privilege, and I try to treat every player — whether they’re picking up a racket for the first time or chasing a national ranking — with the same energy and care.
