Sarah Hawkshaw
Hello! My name is Sarah Hawkshaw and I am a 21 year old Irish tennis player. Tennis has been in my life since I was 4 years old when I would hit the ball inside against the kitchen wall for hours in my home during some renovations. Since then I have fallen more and more in love with this sport, the ups and the downs on the tennis court are a microcosm of life and I would like to do all that I can to achieve my goals in this sport. After some injuries have slowed me down over the years I have persevered and I am committed to making this dream of being a Pro a reality.
Education & Rankings
Education:
- Completed secondary school (Institute of Education, Ireland)
- Accepted as a Geoscience Undergraduate at Trinity College Dublin. Completed Year 1 but subsequently took time “off books” with the University’s support in order to accept a great training opportunity in Miami with an esteemed coach. I am currently focused on maximising the training I got by competing at my first ITF events in Monastir, Tunisia.
- Irish singles number 10 and doubles number 4
- I didn’t compete for a couple of years due to injuries, and now tennis is my full time focus. Overcoming and persevering through the injuries has helped me a great deal as it opened my eyes to the best ways of looking after my body; through diet, mobility, and recovery techniques (etc) to prevent future injuries. Now, my body is fully recovered and optimised, and I am equipped with great preventive techniques.
Playing experience
- Started tennis aged 6
- Active on the junior circuit achieving top rankings and a place on the Leinster Squad
- Moved to Spain aged 14 to pursue training at a small academy. During this time, played some Rafa Mapfre tournaments and Women’s Opens with good results.

Testimonial
This is to confirm that I have been working with Sarah for over two years now. In my opinion Sarah is an exceptional athlete. Sarah has the physical and mental capacity to become Irelands greatest female tennis player. Sarah is diligent, punctual, hard working, fair and conscientious. She is a great role model for any young athletes. With the right support and encouragement Sarah has a very bright future. Yours sincerely,
Aidan Woods, Physiotherapist to the Irish Olympic Team from 2002 to 2012. Head Physiotherapist to the Irish Olympic Team from 2012 to 2018

I worked with Sarah when she was a junior tennis player. She trained personally with my team and me, and working with her was a true pleasure. Circumstances of life meant that we parted ways. However, I have recently been in touch with her again. Now, she is a girl with a huge desire and interest to become a professional tennis player. She has one of the most important things, which is desire and discipline. Even more so, a great talent. The emotional side is the most fundamental, and it is this which she has to emphasise. When this occurs, she is with the possibility of being able to dedicate herself to her dream of professional tennis. I am available for any question, but if you ask me, she is someone who deserves any help with what she needs. I did so then, and I trust that more people can help her achieve her goal and dream. It would be a pleasure to answer any queries. Sincerely yours,
Pepe Imaz, Founder Amor & Paz Tennis Academy
