More than an ITF Level 2 Tennis Coach: Steve’s passion for Tennis has taken several forms, and his credentials are enhanced by extensive experience in the corporate business domain.
From Cork (Ireland), as a player, Steve represented Munster in five Junior and four Senior ‘Tennis Ireland National Interprovincial Championships’ and was a multiple Munster Champion at Junior and Senior levels (1983-1994). Steve and Munster were Senior National Interprovincial Champions (1993). Steve was the Munster NPC for both the Young Seniors and Seniors Interprovincial Championships (2022), leading Munster to National titles in four age categories.
He was a Junior National Champion and Ireland Junior team member. Since 2022, he is a regular (and a 2024 Captain) on the Ireland (IC) team. By virtue of Canadian citizenship, he represented USA-Canada against Great Britain in the Friendship Cup (2022) held at the All-England Club Wimbledon. As an aside, Steve is also a Shōtōkan Karate National Kata Champion, in which he holds the Rank of Shodan (First Dan Black Belt).
Steve has been Head Coach in multiple Tennis clubs in Ireland and Munster Junior Development Coach. In 2020, he was Gold Coach at the Clark Francis Tennis Academy (Aviation Club – Dubai Tennis Stadium) and an Advantage Sports Coach in Abu Dhabi. Steve is ITF (Tennis Ireland) Level 2 Certified and a United States National Tennis Academy Professional Instructor.
Steve founded the International Wood Tennis Organisation (2021), launched by the Prime Minister of Ireland, and has held several events, such as the Irish Open (also a 2022 category champion). Steve is a Global Partner with Tennis Rwanda Children’s Foundation (2024) and is now part of the international team that delivers coaching clinics across many districts, including UNHCR Mahama Refugee Camp.
For Steve, all roads lead to Tennis, and the following lines aim to demonstrate that combining both Tennis and Business expertise, makes him an attractive candidate for the position of Director of Tennis:
As an academic, Steve holds both a Bachelor of Marketing degree and a Bachelor of Business Studies (First Class Honours) from the Munster Technological University, a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Supply Chain Management (highest grade nationally) and is close to completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Military Logistics, from the Technological University Dublin. His doctoral research is based on the operational reliability of United States Navy nuclear-powered aircraft carriers and is studying the Irish Defence Forces on United Nations Peace Support Operations and E.U. Battlegroup rotations. Steve also holds certifications attained at the Irish Military College: Civil Military Relations (CIMIC) and U.N. Staff Officer, and University of Oxford certifications: Philosophy, Globalisation and Age of Revolution. In 2019, Steve published a book through KoganPage (London and New York) that was endorsed by Harvard University – Supply Chain Disruption: Aligning Business Strategy and Supply Chain Tactics.

He has combined expertise in supply chain and logistics management by leveraging best practice methodologies to ensure on-time delivery, risk mitigation, security, uncompromising quality, strict cost control, and compliance with region-specific regulatory and transport requirements.
