About Me

I have a combined 15+ years of TENNIS coaching experience. That alone may or may not say a lot about me, but having done so with relative success in one (if not the) most competitive countries in the world in the sport, Spain, and in a prime region within it, Catalonia, is proof that I can take on any challenge that comes my way.

I’ve been at management level in both on and off-court positions. For almost eight years, and with the leading Tennis management group in the region at the time, I was a director and of the group’s managed clubs, my tasks ranging from supervising timetables and coaches locations, organizing local and national-level events, and being in charge of the club’s management and organizing the competition-level (high performance) team(s). At some stage, I had over 20 people under my supervision and we always did things the right way. My main ethos is that confidence comes from a well thought-out and clear preparation, and that’s what I’ve tried to instil in both those who worked with me and the athletes whom I had the privilege to train.

I enjoy being around, connecting with people, talking (but specially listening to) people; making them feel the energy I bring on and off the court and trying to always leave them better than I found them. I’ve always found that as something unique and a wonderful experience.

The age group where I work best is with kids 10-16 years. I’ve developed over 10 regional and national champions over the years, always having high-level players under my supervision.

I am knowledgeable of the game, always ready to learn (I read and study a lot) and keeping up with the pace and speed of changes around it (getting back to the preparation ethos above), trying to improve and get better every day. Our sport is evolving (and will continue to evolve) at all levels: technical, but particularly at the physical and mental ones. Tennis requires a far more holistic approach than it used to and it is key nowadays to address toughness training in those areas in order to become truly competitive. I have developed some out-of-the-box training programs that reflect that point.

I’m willing to relocate, travel and explore new and motivating ventures that pose a true challenge for both sides going forward. I love to meet new people whom I can help be the best they can be on and off a tennis court. Always with a smile and positive energy.

I speak 3 languages, including English at a proficient level (some say native), understand and speak some Russian and have done a course on German (which I could pick-up again if needed), so there are virtually no language barriers for me.

Thank you.

Antonio

Experience

PROFESSIONAL CAREER

1997 – 2005 –
Head Coach, High-performance and competition level teams

Marre-Font tennis Group, Barcelona area (Spain)

  • Straight out of my unsuccessful attempt into the men’s ITF pro circuit, I was enrolled as a head coach to develop the competition and high-performance teams within the company’s seven clubs under management.
  • The job included selecting the best players among the clubs and enlist them in a unified team in the biggest amongst them, train them to reach their highest potential, and pursue the win of a national championship at the club level.
  • Leading a team of 6 coaches, we won 3 regional championships and finished runner-up in another 2, making it the best era of the club to date.

2009 – 2015 – Performance Coach

  • Training young and aspiring tennis players in an Estepona country club (Spain).
  • Focusing on specific groups of  no more than three young talented U-12 players at the same time, outside of their respective clubs.
  • I was involved in bettering their game on and off-court, from tennis and fitness to tournament programming, until they reached a maturity point where they moved to a different training environment in better-suited academies.

2018-2020
Senior Performance coach, Club Tangeroise de Tir

Training and developing aspiring young players U10-14 though personalized and systematic tennis programs, as well as helping with the planning and implementation of routines and training programs for players of older ages.

2021 – current
Head/Team Coach

  • Managing a group of three under-12/14 aspiring players in the Nylstar AAVV Mas Moixa in Girona, one of them being my own son.
  • Same role as in previous position, coaching a group of 3 talented players, competing at national and regional level.
  • They have won the regional U-10 and U-12 team championships in Catalonia and finished twice runner-up in the Spanish National U-12 championships.

July- December 2025
Director, Head Coach, Elite U16 team, Jiangxi Province, China

  • I was recruited as the leading figure to develop a group of 5 aspiring young players to transition from their current national level to international and into the professional tour.
  • I implemented my own training methodology and system and the associated daily routines. There was real improvement and the playing level shot up sensibly.
  • During my time there, I was asked to combine my time in the academy with privately coaching an ATP-800 ranked player for the series of ITF Futures tournaments that were held in the area.
  • Personal constraints forced me to resign my position and move out of the country.

Testimonial

I'm writing this letter to highly recommend the man who has coached my son for the past years, and whom we now consider part of our family. Our son's development, both technically and tactically, as well as competitively and mentally, is incredible to us and something we couldn't have imagined. The exquisite attention to detail, the will and sacrifice to make people understand the mechanics of strokes and the game in general, the patience when teaching each aspect that needed improvement, and the countless free talks that have helped our son develop as an athlete and as a person, leave me with only words of gratitude for everything Antonio has done for our son and for us in general. His tireless energy in every training session, his ability to motivate and bring out the best in each student is something we hadn't seen before.
