Santiago Lopez - Tennis Coach

Cundinamarca
Colombia

Hello, my name is Santiago López from Bogotá, Colombia.

I am 22 years old, and I began playing tennis at the age of 3 under the guidance of my father, a professional player. I am currently ranked #50 in the Colombia Tennis Federation (UTR 10.00).

I hold certifications from the ITF and PTR. I teach tennis to players of all ages and skill levels at the Bogotá Country Club.

Annually, I have the opportunity to spar with professional players at the Colsanitas Open. My key strengths include creativity, teamwork, dedication, teaching ability, and commitment. In addition to tennis, I actively participate in Padel, running, cycling, swimming, and golf.

My English proficiency level is B1, and my goal is to pursue further certifications and assist others in enhancing their performance, technique, and ethical conduct both on and off the court.

My colleagues are also people who motivate you and push you to be a better coach and person. I use media, whether visual, social networks, or books from the ITF or PTR

My life is tennis and more tennis. With my family we have a store where we provide services of all kinds: stringing, clothing, rackets, shoes, bags, and much more! Of course, I’m the one who strings the rackets.

Experience

Playing Experience:

My career as a professional tennis player in Colombia began when I was 16 years old, standing out with good results. I trained with high level players like…

  • Jhoan Rodriguez, current ATP ranking 662; Cristian Rodríguez, current ATP ranking 196 (doubles)
  • Daniel Elahi Galán, current ATP ranking 125
  • Santiago Giraldo, former ATP 28
  • Yuliana Monroy, current WTA ranking 825
  • Sat Galán, former ATP 650
  • Ana María Becerra, current WTA ranking 621.

My environment has always been about sharing, traveling, and living with people who have helped me boost my level as a coach and player.

Coaching Experience:

My experience as a coach began right after I turned 17 years old, in the same place where my dad currently works. In the first months, I started as an assistant.

Later on, I began working with groups and private lessons, mostly with children and kids who were already performing at a high level.

One year later, I began to get certified as a coach. Two years later, my dad and I already had a great team of kids playing with red, orange, green, and regular balls. We had a team of 8 kids competing with the Colombian Tennis Federation.

Right after teaching for three consecutive years, the Bogotá Country Club contacted me to work with them. I have now been working with their team for two years. We have a great team of kids and adults at all levels: beginners, intermediate, and advanced. We have a competitive group where we have more than 20 kids playing in the Colombian Tennis Federation, achieving exceptional results.

Experience:

  • As a coach: 5 years.
  • As a professional player: 6 years.

Testimonial

I'm pleased to recommend Santiago López as a tennis instructor. I've known Santiago since he was a child playing tennis with his dad at the Country Club of Bogotá, and I've seen how he's grown not only as a player but as an exceptional person with a true passion for tennis. As Director of the Country Club of Bogotá, I've had the opportunity to closely observe Santiago's work as a tennis instructor. It's been a pleasure having him on our team, teaching players of all ages and skill levels. His personalized approach, ability to connect with students, and knowledge of the game have made him a valuable member of our staff. Additionally, his certifications from the ITF and PTR support his professionalism. Santiago is more than a tennis instructor; he's someone who conveys important values like commitment, discipline, and respect for the game. I'm fortunate to have worked with him, and I have full confidence in his abilities.
