About Me

I started playing tennis when I was about 8 years old. I would go to summer camps almost every summer until I was about 14 years old. When I was in college, I would be a hitting partner and attend practices for the men’s tennis team at the University I attended. Besides coaching and watching tennis, I enjoy playing chess, watching movies, , watching basketball, traveling, and spending time with my family.

Other interesting information about me is that I coached college basketball for more than 7 years!!

I have extensive experience coaching tennis at collegiate levels, as well as with elite juniors, high school teams, and ITF/WTA-level professionals, I feel I can offer an ability to elevate athletes’ performance, strategy, and success in achieving their goals. Across all roles, my coaching philosophy centers on character development, disciplined training habits, and individualized growth. I believe in fostering an environment on and off the court where athletes are empowered to excel athletically, and personally.

In my current role as Head Women’s Tennis Coach at the University of Maine at Augusta, I successfully launched a new collegiate program in Fall 2024, developing recruiting pipelines, implementing performance-driven training systems, and guiding the team to immediate competitive results. Previously, as an Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Thomas College (NCAA Division III), I contributed to helping the team reach the Conference Championship for the first time in program history. I supported recruiting operations, scouting, athlete development, and academic monitoring while helping our top players earn All-Conference Singles and Doubles honors. These experiences strengthened my ability to develop athletes both on and off the court.

My work coaching ITF-level players has broadened my technical expertise and expanded my international connections. I have guided athletes through W15, W35, W50, and W75 tournaments, supported a Moroccan junior in earning a Division I full scholarship.

Testimonial

When I first came to Coach Alex to start working with him, I was almost about to quit tennis! He not only helped to transform my game to allow me the opportunity to earn interest from colleges, but renewed the passion and joy of tennis for me again. I am so grateful to have him as my coach. His detail to technique work, the hard cardio sessions and the strategy knowledge of on court play and shot selection are amazing!! Thank you Coach Alex!!

Claire D., College Tennis player, RWU
