Carlos Matarredona - Tennis Coach

Alicante
Spain

Hello everyone,

This is Carlos Matarredona, a young, passionate and really professional coach. As a player, I competed in the Futures and Challenger Tour before signing with an American University to continue my academic and athletic careers. After 5 years in the US, I graduated with Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from the University of North Alabama. I gained many awards along the way, both athletic and academically. After working for Mouratoglou Tennis Academy since I graduated in the US, I am now looking for the next chapter of my coaching career.

I am looking into my next professional adventure. I lived in the US for the last 5 years of my life, where I played D1 college tennis and graduated with a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Business Administration with academic excellence.

I enjoy traveling, reading and coffee. I would describe myself as a young but very enthusiastic and professional coach and person, that is always willing to get out of my comfort zone in order to learn and explore new limits.

Mouratoglou Tennis Academy

When I graduated last May 2023, I immediately got a job at Mouratoglou Tennis Academy at its newest international center in Italy. I worked there throughout the whole season, being the co-manager and working alongside the Head Coach there.

Playing Career

I grew up being one of the top u16 and u18 players in Spain, being ranked as high as #35 under 18. I have played in the Futures and Challenger Tour, and at the age of 18 decided to leave to the US. There I played 2 years at Tyler Junior College, and won there a National Championship and got elected a NJCAA All-American. After two years there, I signed for the University of North Alabama D1. I was there selected as the ASUN Conference Doubles Player of the Year my senior year, and got several academic awards as well.

I also played two years at Sindelfingen Tennis Club in Germany during the summer club leagues.

Testimonial

As Commissioner of the ASUN Conference, I had the opportunity to interact with Carlos regarding a few key items related to tennis, tennis awards, and publishing tennis results. Carlos proved to be a true representative of the ASUN's simple Code of Conduct: be honest, be fair, be respectful, be responsible. Carlos displayed all of those traits during my interactions with him and I'm proud that he and teammate Nazar Fedoryshyn earned a Doubles Pair of the Year honor this past spring. Further, he showed initiative and a mature understanding of diplomacy in addressing and resolving conflict. I write this recommendation enthusiastically for Carlos, hoping it will help him get a work position that will challenge him and where he can thrive. He will be a good teammate and will give his best effort on any project assigned. Thank you for the opportunity to share.

Mr. Gumbart - NCAA ASUN Conference Commissioner
