I am currently the National Coach and director Of tennis for the Island nation of Guam. Within this past year, I have taken the National Team to a Third place finish (Bronze Medal) for the first time in its history. This includes over 25 nations in the Pacific region. I privately train (high Performance) all of the Island’s best players. 30 juniors on the national team and 5 Davis Cup and 3 BJK cup players.
I am Safety certified by the USTA and have run these programs for over 15 years. I also run all of the adult programming for the National center which includes Leagues, mixers, challenge ladders, open play, and assist with 2 ITF junior tournaments and one ATP feature. I also was the WTT tour coach for the ITF tournaments in 2023.
My previous position, I served as the Director of Tennis at the Silver Lakes tennis facility in Helendale, CA. (12 Years) From this location, I implemented my Wicks Tennis Academy that included over 50 junior players. From 1993 to 2002 I ran my wicks tennis academy where I trained over 300 juniors. I have developed over 50 players on College Scholarships.
My staff and I, which included 4 ATP tour pros who assisted junior development at my academy. I have listed a few of the players I Trained, below. I have over 20 years of experience in the oversight of tennis programming and ownership of tennis facilities. My duties have included budgeting, program development, sales and marketing (including owning my own Pro shop), membership services, development of policies and staff, management of food and beverage, and organization of tournaments with prize money reaching $20,000. Including USTA sanctioned tournaments.
I have executed all adult and junior tennis related social and interclub events. I have run junior summer camps for 14 years. I have also trained, teaching Professionals in high Performance training. I have 20 years of experience in sports psychology, nutrition, and physical conditioning. I have been affiliated with the USTA and have run their programs for the past 24 years.
I am also the USPTA 2022 District 5 Pro of the year. Over the years, several of my students have had national-level success and have played on the professional tours. Under the guidance of my staff and I, multiple players have earned college scholarships at major Universities in the United States. These universities include USC, Wake Forest, University of Nevada-Reno,New Mexico State, and USC.
On the international coaching front, I had the pleasure of training the Davis Cup team of Sri Lanka in 1995. Based on my success with players in the United States, I was named the head coach to lead the Ghana Davis Cup team in 1997, world group 1 tie against England and Poland. I also trained many of the Fed Cup players from Tunisia.
