Giulia Maiorana’s Global Tennis Coaching Journey

In today’s blog, we explore the global tennis coaching journey of Giulia Maiorana, who has built a successful international career through SportsProsConnect. From Italy and Romania to the Åland Islands in Finland, Giulia’s story is a testament to how platforms like SportsProsConnect can open doors to international coaching opportunities. She shares valuable insights into her journey, the benefits of SportsProsConnect, and her advice for coaches seeking global growth.

Mark Wylam: Welcome, Giulia! To start, could you tell us about your background and how you came to be a tennis coach?

Giulia Maiorana: Thanks, Mark! I’m half Italian, half Romanian, and have been immersed in tennis since playing in ITF tournaments for both Italy and Romania. After earning my degree in kinesiology and special motricity, I began my coaching career in Romania, gaining valuable experience at two academies. Now, I’m coaching at Mariehamn Lawn-Tennis Klubb on the Åland Islands, marking an exciting new chapter in my international tennis coaching journey.

Mark Wylam: Earlier this year, you became a Gold Member on SportsProsConnect. Can you tell us what motivated this choice?

Giulia Maiorana: Of course! I joined as a Gold Member to establish a strong profile and highlight my dedication to tennis coaching. Additionally, SportsProsConnect offers incredible worldwide job opportunities and connects coaches like me with a network of professionals. In particular, I feel very thankful to be part of such a vibrant coaching community!

Mark Wylam: What were you doing when you first signed up for SportsProsConnect?

Giulia Maiorana: I was coaching at the Florin Mergea Tennis Academy in Târgu Jiu, Romania. I heard about SPC from a fellow coach during a Registro Profesional de Tenis course in Bucharest. She explained SPC’s networking and job opportunities, and I joined to expand my coaching reach globally.

Mark Wylam: Congratulations on your new role in the Åland Islands! How did this opportunity come about, and what’s it like so far?

Giulia Maiorana: Thank you! It’s amazing to be coaching in Scandinavia. Peter, the manager of Mariehamn Lawn-Tennis Klubb, reached out with a job offer, and I jumped at the chance. Working here has been a dream, from new coaching experiences to immersing in the local culture and lifestyle.

Mark Wylam: How can we improve SportsProsConnect’s services for global coaches like you?

Giulia Maiorana: SPC has been excellent in connecting me to career opportunities worldwide and offering resources for growth, like conferences and networking events with top coaches. However, it would be great if SPC could expand its offerings even further to support skill-building for all levels of coaching.
